There was overwhelming support for the loved ones of 14-year-old Jeremiah Brown and a 16-year-old gunned down on Christmas Day.A march for justice was held Thursday night in their honor that took the community to city hall.Nearly 50 family and friends took a justice walk to Palm Bay City Hall in the names of 14-year-old Jeremiah Brown and a 16-year-old.The two teenage boys were found shot to death in a remote area of Palm Bay known as The Compound on Christmas night. “I’ve got to find justice for my Jeremiah. Someone brutally murdered my grandson. They took him to the compound and they murdered him,” said Carolyn Brown, Jeremiah’s grandmother. “Justice for Jeremiah,” the victims’ family and friends said. The families are demanding answers and justice and are looking to city leaders for help.Jeremiah’s mother says something has to be done about the gun violence and The Compound, and she pleaded for help to find her son’s killer or killers.”Please get in contact with the police department. Don’t be afraid. We need justice, you know. You should be afraid that the killers are still walking amongst us,” said Chirsel Brown, Jeremiah’s mother.”I appreciate the community coming out from this council as mayor, know that our thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family over your loss,” Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina said.”We are making progress. However, all the details and the facts will come out,” Palm Bay Police Chief Mariano Augello said. Without going into details, the police chief says the family will get justice.”We want to withhold that right now and let our investigators do what they do best and that’s to investigate these crimes with a positive resolution,” Augello said.The area where the teens were found, The Compound, is located in southwest Palm Bay.It’s about 12 miles, nearly 3,000 acres of undeveloped area.Palm Bay resident Robin Gallo says she just met the Brown family during Christmas.Gallo told the council this:”Two gentleman, two children were walking and they were gunned downed and there’s no camera. Everyone has a camera on their street corners,” Gallo said. The mayor says the city plans to hold a workshop at the end of March to come up with some options for The Compound.The property belongs to private owners.One resident said it would be wonderful if there could be a Boys and Girls Club there named in honor of the victims.
